PRESS RELEASE

CBSE Conducts the Integrated NEET (UG)- 2017 Successfully CBSE has successfully conducted the prestigious National Eligibility cum Entrance Test NEET-UG- 2017 Exam on 7th May, 2017
from 10.00 am to 01.00 pm in offline mode across the country. The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, by ordinance in June 2016, amended  Medical Council  of India
Act &  Dental Council of India Acts  and made the provision for integrated NEET for UG admissions for 95,000 seats (65,000 MBBS & 25,000 BDS) in all Government Medical Colleges, Private Medical Colleges & Deemed Universities in the entire country.

The seats are classified in the following categories: -

(i)All India Quota Seats

(ii)State Government Quota Seats

(iii)State/Management/NRI  Quota  Seats  in  Private  Medical  /  Dental  Colleges  or any Private/ Deemed University

(iv)Central Pool Quota Seats


Total NEET Seats: A total of 11, 38,890

students registered for this examination including 1522 NRIs, 480 OCIs,  70  PIOs    &  613  Foreigners.  This  exam  has  been  conducted  in  10  languages  at 1921 Exam Centres in 103 cities.
This test was conducted in following 10 languages:- HINDI ENGLISH GUJARATI MARATHI ORIYA BENGALI ASSAMESE  TELGU TAMIL KANNADA For  smooth  conduct  of  the  examination,  490  CBSE  Officials  were  deployed  in  all  103 Cities  to  personally supervise  the  examination  alongwith  3500  Observers  and  City Coordinators from CBSE affiliated Schools.

Candidates  have  taken  part in  NEET  with  full  zeal.  The  national  average  of  the candidates present in the NEET is about 95%. Presence of candidates in Srinagar was more than 97%.

All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination – 2016

The Government of India established the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in 1975 with the objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on All India Basis and utilizing existing healthcare infrastructure for capacity building.

National Board of Examinations conducts entry and exit examinations at Postgraduate, Post Doctoral level and licensing examinations as Screening Test for Indian Nationals with Foreign Medical Qualifications

The National Board of Examination has been notified by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India to conduct a competitive entrance examination on All-India Basis for admission to All India 50% quota MD/MS/Diploma Seats (except for colleges located in Jammu & Kashmir and Erstwhile Andhra Pradesh).

The entrance examination will be governed by the rules and regulations specified by the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare/Directorate General Health Services/and orders of Hon'ble Courts.

 Duration of the Courses:
MD/MS:    
Three years from the date of admission. Candidates are eligible for admission
after completion of compulsory rotating internship.
Diploma:    
Two years from the date of admission after completion of compulsory rotating
internship.

The scheme for selection of candidates for admission to All India 50% quota MD/MS/Diploma Seats-2016 Admission Session shall be applicable to all Medical Colleges/Institutions throughout the country and no Medical College/Institution shall hereafter conduct competitive entrance examination of its own for these seats on all-India basis, except the States of Jammu & Kashmir and Erstwhile Andhra Pradesh which have been excluded by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India vide their judgement dated 21.07.1986 (Writ Petition (Civil) no. 348-352 of 1985 in the matter of Dr. Dinesh Kumar & ORS vs Moti Lal Medical College Allahabad & ORS). Therefore, the students having passed their MBBS examination from any Institution in these two States shall not be eligible to participate in the 50% All India Competitive Entrance Examination for selection of candidates against these seats.

However, the candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (under Central pool seats) to do MBBS from Medical Colleges in Erstwhile Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir shall be eligible to apply for admission, subject to submission of a bond on a Non-Judicial Stamp Paper of Rs. 10/- to this effect. A copy of the nomination letter must be attached with the bond.

 ACTUAL NUMBER OF SEATS in AIPGMEE


1. The information pertaining to number of seats available for the year 2016 has not been communicated by all the participating Medical colleges covered under this Scheme till the time of publication of this Information Bulletin. The number of seats available in different colleges, with their subject-wise break-up, shall be displayed on the website of Medical Counseling Committee www.mcc.nic.in in due course. Candidates are advised to visit these websites regularly.

2. Stipend/Bond/Fee structure/ course duration/ bond amount/ non stipendiary etc may vary from State to State and from Institution to Institution. Some seats may be non-stipendary. The candidates need to examine these points before opting a seat at a Medical College. The Ministry of Health & FW/ Directorate General Health Services/ National Board of Examination (NBE) shall neither be responsible nor shall entertain any case on the above grounds including the law and order /local issues if any.

3. The total number of seats available for All India Quota 2015-2016 academic session was 5663 This number may vary for the academic year 2016-17. Candidate may refer website www.mcc.nic.in for distribution of seats across various medical colleges (Academic Year 2016-17)

4. Applicants are advised to refer to the website/Information available with Counseling Authority/Universities/Medical Colleges reg. seat availability.

NEET-PG is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses as per Section (10) of Indian Medical Council Act 1956.

NEET-PG is a single window entrance examination for PG courses. No otherentrance examination, either at state or institution level, shall be valid for entry to MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses as per the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 w.e.f. 2017 admission session.

NEET-PG 2017 shall be a single eligibility cum entrance examination namely ‘National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for admission to Postgraduate Medical Courses’ for the academic session 2017 which will include the following:-

    All India 50% quota seats for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses (all states except Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana)

    State quota seats for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses for all States/Union territories of India (including the states of Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana)
    MD/MS/PG Diploma courses at all Private Medical Colleges, Institutions & Universities/Deemed Universities all across the country
    MD/MS/PG Diploma courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.
    DNB Broad specialty courses (January 2017 Admission Session)

The following Medical institutions are not covered by centralized admissions for MD/MS seats through NEET-PG for 2017 session:

    SGPGIMS, Lucknow
    JIPMER, Puducherry
    NIMHANS, Bengaluru

Important Dates

No state government /private medical college/universities including the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Telangana & Andhra Pradesh shall be conducting any separate entrance exam for admission to their MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses for the academic session 2017-2018.
