All candidates are aware of the objectives of The Christian Medical College Vellore which is “the establishment, maintenance and development of a Christian Medical College andHospitals in India, where women and men shall receive an education of the highest grade in the art and science of medicine and  of  nursing,  or  in  one  or  other  of  the  related  professions,  to  equip  them  in  the  spirit  of  Christ  for service in the relief of suffering and the promotion of health”.

The aforesaid object is based on the religious percept of “Healing the Sick”, Mathew 10.8.
For  the  academic  year  2016-17, the College, in compliance with the directions of the Hon‟ble Supreme Court  of  India,  will  not  be  holding  its  own  Entrance  Test  (Physics,  Chemistry  &  Biology)  and  only candidates  held  to  be  eligible  based  on  the  National  Eligibility  cum  Entrance  Test  (NEET/AIPMT) conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education under the auspices of the Medical Council of India are eligible for  selection to the MBBS course.

For  the  Christian  Medical  College,more  than  a  century  old,  unaided,  Christian  minority,  non-capitation, fee institution, , to ascertain the suitability of NEET eligible candidates for undergoing the MBBS course, assessing  their  general  ability  viz.  their  aptitude  and  analytical  skills,  is  an  extremely  important  facet which has helped the  Institution to achieve its objectives to serve the needy  even in  areas where people have limited access to medical aid.

The assessment of a candidate‟s general ability has been an integral part of the selection process in the Christian  Medical  College  for  more  than  6  decades.    The  Institution  wishes  to  make  it  clear  that  the assessment of the general ability of the candidate is not an admission test but is only to ensure that NEET qualified  candidates  seeking  consideration  for  selection  to  Christian  Medical  College  are  suited  to achieve the objectives of the Institution.Consequently,  all  NEET  qualified  candidates will  have  to  undergo  an  objective  assessment  of  their general  ability  for  which  purpose  an  online  aptitude  assessment  will  be  conducted  on  10/09/2016  at various Centres*.

The  allotment  of  Exam  City  would  be  as  per  the  order  of  preference  given  by  the  applicant  in  the application.Normally  the  first  preference  would  be  allotted.  Depending  upon  various  factors,  CMC reserves  the  right  to  allot  any  other  Exam  City  other  than  the  preferences  given  by  the  applicant.CMC also reserves the right to allocate an applicant to an alternate preference or a nearby test city if there are insufficient  seats  available.In  case  of  any  unforeseen  circumstances  the  Exam  City  can  be  cancelled  at any  point  of  time  and  a  new  Exam  City  can  be  allotted  en  bloc  with  due  intimation in  newspapers  / website.CMC reserves the right to reschedule the date / timeof the exam. Candidates will thereafter be shortlisted for special tests and interviews.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

i. As  per  the  directives  of  the    Hon’ble  Supreme  Court  of  India  and  the  Ordinances
promulgated by the Central Government on 24.5.2016 in regard to conduct of NEET,
online  applications are  invited  from  candidates  with  eligibility  marks  prescribed  by
MCI/DCI in the 12th Std. and NEET-(UG) 2016, for admission to MBBS/BDS course for
academic year 2016-17.  Only online application mode is available.

ii.It  may  be  noted  that  the  admission  process  commenced  through  this  notification  is
without prejudice to the contentions of Sri Ramachandra University  in  the T.C. (Civil)
No.98-105 of 2012, etc., which are to be heard afresh by the Hon’ble Supreme Court -
-vide its order dated 11.04.2016 in R.P. (C) Nos. 2159-2268 of 2013, etc. 

iii.Such of those candidates who have applied for the All India Entrance Examination of
Sri  Ramachandra  University  which  was  scheduled  to  be  conducted  on  22.05.2016,
should also apply afresh in the prescribed application online.

iv.Candidates belonging to any State/Union Territory of India are eligible.

v.Candidates  desirous  of  applying  for  both  MBBS  and  BDS  degree  course  should
submit separate online applications.

vi.Candidates are advised to regularly check the website :-  www.sriramachandra.edu.in

vii.Candidate  must  ensure  that  mobile  numbers  and    e-mail  ID  filled  in  the  online
application   form   pertain   to   him/her   as   Sri   Ramachandra   University   will   make
communications  by  SMS    on  given  mobile  number  or e-mail  ID  only,    including
counseling intimation to the selected candidate.
